A remote U.S. drone crashed while landing at an airport on a small island of Mahe off the East Coast of Africa, the AFP reported.

The initial report indicates that there were no injuries when the MQ-9 crashed.

The cause of the crash was unknown, but the U.S. embassy in Mauritius told Reuters that the drone was not armed.

News of the drone crash comes at a time when U.S. officials say another unmanned aircraft malfunctioned and crashed in Iran earlier this month.
