Philadelphia Woman Charged With Abandoning Injured Horse

PHILADELPHIA -- A Philadelphia woman was facing animal cruelty charges Saturday for allegedly abandoning a sick and injured horse, the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA) said.

According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, the horse was found in a lot in the city's Kensington neighborhood last weekend suffering from malnourishment and an injured leg.

PSPCA spokeswoman Wendy Marano said tips from the public led investigators to 23-year-old Claritza Lopez-Fuentes, who allegedly abandoned the horse after failing to provide it with veterinary care.

She was charged with animal cruelty, Marano said.

The white horse was in the care of the PSPCA on Saturday as the organization reviewed adoption requests.
