Spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory says in a recorded message that the plane originated from Georgia with five people on board. It crashed just before 11 p.m. CST Monday in the northwestern Chicago suburb of Riverwoods.
She didn't release any information about the condition of the other three people.
Authorities say the pilot told air traffic control that the flight was having fuel trouble just before it crashed a few miles from a regional airport.
Officials from the National Transportation Safety were heading to the scene to lead the investigation.
