A former Iowa elementary school principal has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for secretly videotaping dozens of young male students using the bathroom.

U.S. District Judge Linda Reade issued the sentence to former Sageville Elementary School principal Robert Burke during a federal court hearing Monday in Cedar Rapids. It was the maximum penalty possible for the 43-year-old Burke, who pleaded guilty to one count of producing child pornography in August.

Investigators arrested Burke at his Dubuque home in June after an FBI agent linked his computer to images of child pornography being shared on the Internet. During the raid, they found a huge stash of child pornography.

Burke told investigators during an interview he installed cameras in the school bathroom to get video of students.
