LEBANON, Ohio -- The defense is set to begin its case in the trial of a former high school teacher accused of having sex with her students in southwest Ohio.
Attorneys plan to call expert witnesses Wednesday to support their claims that the 33-year-old woman had medical and psychological issues and that students took advantage of her. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that two prosecution witnesses testified Tuesday that Stacy Schuler had told them months before her arrest that she would plead insanity.
Earlier, five former students testified about sexual encounters in Schuler's home. Schuler resigned in February from her job as health and gym teacher at Mason High School, in a northeastern Cincinnati suburb.
The nonjury trial that began Monday is expected to wrap up this week in Warren County.
