CHICAGO -- A Cook County judge has approved a mother's request to exhume the remains of one of serial killer John Wayne Gacy's victims.

Sherry Marino has long doubted that her 14-year-old son, Michael Marino, was one of Gacy's 33 victims and her attorneys say that medical and dental records raise questions about whether the remains are those of the teen.

Cook County Associate Judge Rita Novak on Thursday granted Marino's request to exhume the remains now buried at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside. She agreed with Marino's attorneys that DNA testing that did not exist in the 1970s when the bodies were discovered at Gacy's home might give the mother an answer to the question that has bothered her for more than three decades.

Gacy was executed in 1994.
