The President unveils his plan for trimming the deficit with a 10:30 Rose Garden speech. It includes $1.5 trillion in new taxes, 250 billion dollars in reductions in Medicare spending and $1Trillion in savings from troop withdrawals in Afghanistan and Iraq. It faces a steep uphill battle in Congress.

New polling from NYTimes/CBS has more bad news for President Obama.. his lowest approval rating so far in that poll.. but it also suggests there’s some dissatisfaction with the GOP field so far.
