Muslim Groups Express Outrage Over Coloring Novel That Depicts 9/11

A controversial coloring novel that depicts the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, has Muslim leaders appalled, saying the book has a blatant anti-Muslim bent.

The publisher of “We Shall Never Forget,” defends the book and calls the Muslim outcry inappropriate. However, a loud chorus of Muslim leaders say evidence of a bias could be seen throughout the book.

Dawud Walid, the director of the Michigan branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, called the book “disgusting,” an AFP report says.

“It's silly to think that a young person who colors that book who has no contact with Muslims would come away with anything but fear of Muslims and thinking that Muslims are bad people,” Walid told AFP.

In the report, he says every time the word Muslim or Islam is used, it’s followed by the words “terrorist” or “extremist.”

According to MyFoxDC.com, there’s a sentence that reads, “some Muslim people believe the attacks were a conspiracy caused by Jews,” and the phrase “Radical Islamic Muslim Extremists” is reportedly used 10 times.

“Well there were 19 hijackers, it could have been used 19 times,” Wayne Bell, the book’s publisher and head of Really Big Coloring Books, told FoxNews.com. “I mean, would you prefer us call them, ‘having a bad hair day?'"

Bell said orders for the book have been surging and his company is publishing new books every day to keep up with the demand.

But he also said security has been increased at his St. Louis office due to Middle Eastern news outlets’ interest in the book.

“The book was built to educate, not to offend,” he said. “This is a totally manufactured event.”

The book's illustrations include one of Usama bin Laden taking cover behind a veiled woman as a Navy SEAL fires a machine gun appeared to be the most graphic.

The book calls bin Laden a “coward” who hid behind the dress of a young woman while SEALs performed their sweep.

Bell, however, stands behind the book and its accuracy.

“You’ll hear more controversial stuff watching tonight’s newscast than from this book,” he said.
