Another very busy news day.

Where in the world is Moammar Qaddafi? Speculation is that he's still holed up in his compound in Tripoli. Sporadic fighting continues to plague the capital. Saif Qaddafi is *not* captured! He's making statements and riding around Tripoli. He's still delusional, though. He says the people are behind him. Large explosions are being heard right now near the Qaddafi compound.

New home sales numbers out at 10am.. many will be looking for signs of the health of the economy in those numbers. Mitt Romney will unveil a jobs plan on Sept 6th. Remember the President is unveiling a plan around then. There are new polls out by Gallup with potential head-to-head match ups versus POTUS. Not great news for President Obama. Most GOP candidates are either tied or in striking distance.. Mitt Romney gets 48% to the President's 46%.

Jon Huntsman going on the offensive against his fellow GOPers.. trying to create a spot in the middle.

Rep Paul Ryan says he will not run.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center says "Irene" will become a major Category 3 storm today and could strengthen to a Cat 4 by Thursday.. it could make landfall in FL, GA or SC.. if it hits the U.S. it would be the first big hurricane since 2008.

Magnitude 5.3 quake hits Colorado.

Prosecutors will drop the charges against Dominique Strauss-Kahn today.

And a new book for kids age 6-12 stirring up controversy. "Maggie Goes on a Diet" tells the story of a pudgy 14 year old girl who goes on a diet and eventually becomes a star soccer player. As you can imagine it's causing a lot of outrage.
