During today's show, Jenna Lee sat down with Paul M. Kramer, the author of "Maggie Goes on a Diet." It's a book about a teen who goes on a diet and starts exercising to lose weight. The thing that has some people upset: The target audience is kids.

Critics say the story can be bad for a child's body image, especially females (the main character is a teenage girl).

Kramer says the naysayers have it all wrong. His goal is raise kids' self-images, not drag them down. During the interview he said being fit is its own reward. He's not encouraging kids to get fit so they can become popular and happy.

Oh, and there's one more thing - the book isn't out yet! So most (if not all) critics are judging a book they haven't read yet. And you kno what they say about judging a book by its cover...

If you're interested in purchasing a copy, keep an eye out for it at your bookstore this October.
