Tropical depression forms north of Bermuda

MIAMI – A tropical depression has formed in the Atlantic but it is moving away from Bermuda and the United States.

The National Hurricane Center said Friday afternoon that the storm was about 260 miles north of Bermuda. It had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph and was moving east-northeast at 16 mph. Some strengthening was expected and the storm could turn into a tropical storm Friday night or Saturday.

No coastal watches or warnings have been issued.
