Ore. pilot identified in small plane crash; 3 dead

The family of an Oregon man says he was the pilot of a small plane that crashed in Nevada, killing him and two passengers.

The Roseburg News-Review reports the pilot was 47-year-old Eric Ling, of Roseburg, Ore.

His mother, Jeanette Ling, of Roseburg, told the newspaper her son was hired to fly a couple to New Mexico.

Roseburg Municipal Airport officials say a flight plan was filed for Saturday from Roseburg to Reno, Nev. The wreckage of the Cessna 172 was found Tuesday evening north of Reno just yards from the California border with the bodies of two men and a woman.

Nevada investigators have not released the names of the victims, saying they were waiting to confirm their families had been notified. Federal aviation officials are at the site.
