A New York City taxi driver has been rewarded for returning $100,000 worth of jewelry and cash left in the back seat of his cab.

The Wall Street Journal reports that John James forgot the bag with the valuables on Sunday after being dropped off at the National Arts Club where he lives.

The newspaper says James kept his receipt from the cabbie, Zubiru Jalloh, and the two were reunited on Monday. James offered him 10 $100 bills, which Jalloh said he reluctantly accepted, and invited him to the club's Valentine's Day party.

Jalloh declined the invitation. He says his Muslim faith told him to return someone else's property.
James' brother, O. Aldon James, is the president of the arts club, whose members include Uma Thurman and Robert Redford.
