Calif. police investigating threats to Gov. Brown

The California Highway Patrol says it is investigating death threats made against Gov. Jerry Brown in two graffiti messages.

CHP spokeswoman Fran Clader said Friday that the agency, which is responsible for the governor's safety, is taking the threats spray-painted on walls in Santa Ana seriously.

Cpl. Anthony Bertagna, a spokesman for the Santa Ana Police Department, says one of the messages says, "we gonna kill Gov. Brown 2/14/11."

The other reads "27 more days 4 Brown" and includes a swastika. It's not clear if there's any significance to the date, other than it's Valentine's Day.

Bertagna says the CHP is leading the investigation, but members of Orange County's multi-agency terrorism task force also are involved.
