Police say a man killed his wife and two children in the bedrooms of their southeast Michigan home before apparently committing suicide in his car in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Novi (NOH'-vy) Police Chief David Molloy said at a Friday news conference that officers found the bodies of 38-year-old Jennifer Schons (SHOHNZ) and the couple's two sons, 6-year-old Tynan (TY'-nuhn) and 4-year-old Camden, earlier in the day.

Authorities went to the home after a family friend reported that the children didn't show up Friday at Thornton Creek Elementary School and Jennifer Schons missed an appointment.

Novi police then issued an alert to area law enforcement agencies, and Oakland County sheriff's deputies found 39-year-old Mark Schons dead inside his vehicle.

Police aren't saying how any of the victims were killed.
