NEW YORK – The Brooklyn Bridge is being reopened after police say a report of a suspicious package turned out to be a false alarm.
The report came in at 9:38 a.m. Friday. The bridge was reopened less than an hour later.
Police say someone on the walkway saw a flashlight with copper wiring and called 911.
Pedestrian traffic was also briefly closed.
The bridge, which was opened in 1883, is undergoing a series of renovations for the next several years. There is a lot of construction on both the Manhattan and Brooklyn sides.
