Hundreds of law enforcement officials are searching for the second of two men suspected of robbing a bank in upstate New York and shooting a sheriff's deputy during their escape, WSYR reported.
Two men wearing ski masks went into a bank in Rome, N.Y., Thursday morning and fired at least one shot inside the building, though no one was reported injured during the robbery.
Following a 15-mile police chase, authorities arrested one suspect when he ran from the duo's getaway car, but not before the man shot a sheriff's deputy in the ankle.
Oneida County Investigator Michael Burger was shot during his pursuit of the suspects, but was listed in stable condition at a New York hospital.
Dozens of armed state police and sheriff's deputies were canvassing a wooded area next to the SUNY Institute of Technology campus for the second suspect, 31-year-old Brian Jamion Brown.
Brown is described as a black male with a white shirt, blue jeans and a brush cut, WSYR reported.
The SUNY IT campus was placed on lockdown during the search for the suspects.
