FISHKILL, N.Y. -- Authorities say malfunctioning fireworks sent errant rockets into a minor league baseball stadium in New York, injuring two spectators.

Investigators say a shell in a mortar set up outside the stadium misfired, causing a rack of fireworks to come apart and sending two rockets through the center field fence Friday after a game at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill.

One rocket skipped along the infield, bounced over the stands and landed on the roof, while the other landed near third base.

About 3,000 people were evacuated from the stadium, home of the Hudson Valley Renegades of the New York-Penn League. Two people suffered minor injuries.
