A low pressure system building off the Yucatan Peninsula shouldn't cause many problems for Louisiana and the eastern Gulf of Mexico.
National Weather Service meteorologist Tim Destri says it has about a 50 percent chance of becoming a tropical cyclone.
Its trajectory is toward the northwest, so he says it should have fairly minimal impact.
The next few days should see the end of persistent storms that have hampered oil containment and cleanup operations along the coast. There is a relatively low chance of rain and thunderstorms through the weekend.
