Rep. John Sullivan ( - OK) is up.
He asked BP CEO Tony Hayward about the safety of oil rigs of other parts of the U.S. coast. Hayward responded that he made safety a top priority when he took this job and changes have been made. Sullivan said it doesn't appear that way to him, and then continued to list how many violations BP had compared to other oil companies. It didn't make BP look too good.
Sullivan asked Hayward straight out if any of the safety regulations were ignored. From Hayward again: I'll let you know when our investigations are concluded.
Then Sullivan suggested that if another oil company was overseeing this construction, this may not have happened. Hayward refused to comment.
