BP CEO Tony Hayward is in the hot seat on Capitol Hill right now.
Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX) noted that isn't the first time BP was on the hot seat for safety practices. Company officials had to answer concerns back in 2006, before Hayward took over as CEO. But Burgess noted that Hayward promised to make safety and security a priority when he took the job. Now Burgess wants to know what went wrong.
Hayward says every rig is held to regulatory standards, but now their procedures are under review. He says he wasn't involved in the cementing of this particular rig,and can't comment on some specific procedures while multiple investigations are ongoing.
