Victims of the the Deepwater Horizon oil leak may have some hope ahead. Today BP agreed to put $20 billion into an escrow account for victims' claims. That does not include cleanup costs. Also, a White House official says the $20 billion is not a cap, so if costs exceed $20 billion, they may go straight to BP for more.
$20 billion is a lot of dough, so who's going to oversee it? Kenneth Feinberg, the same attorney who oversaw payments to victims of the 9/11 attacks.
We're expecting President Obama to announce more details any time now.
