Medical Helicopter Crashes on Indian Reservation in Arizona

Authorities say a medical helicopter crashed on an Indian reservation in Arizona during a training flight, seriously wounding both people on board.

There were no patients on the flight.

The chopper pilot lost control of the Eurocopter AS 350 about 7:30 p.m. while trying to land at Cutter airport on Arizona's San Carlos Indian reservation, FAA spokesman Ian Gregor told MyFoxPhoenix.com.

Bureau of Indian Affairs spokesman Warren Youngman said both people aboard were hospitalized with serious injuries.

A spokesman for Native Air's parent company, Joel Hochhalter, told KPNX-TV the training helicopter is not configured for medical transportation.

The reservation is about 60 miles east of Phoenix.
