One story which Ive just been alerted to via email just a few minutes ago: it has just been made official that there will be no cost of living increase for Social Security recipients next year making it the first year without one since a system of automatic adjustments was adopted in 1975. The cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) is directly tied to inflation rates which have been negative this year, and this announcement has been made following President Barack Obamas call for a second round of $250 payments to more than 50 million seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities.
