From the Breaking News Desk (BND): US Coast Guard just started searching again for the pilot of a small plane that they believe crashed into the ocean off Santa Barbara.
FAA spokesman just told me that they're sending an investigator to Santa Barbara today to talk with people at the small airport from where the plane took off... to see if anyone can give clues about what was going on with him. Where was he going? Did he seem emotionally okay? They are calling this an accident.
NTSB and FAA are on the job with this one today.
The FAA says the plane vanished from radar about 5:30 p.m. Sunday evening. And, they found a 2 mile oil slick and plane debris near El Capitan State Beach in Goleta.
