BND: UPDATE/Haz-mat spill at Hospital forces 400 to evacuate

From the Breaking News Desk: Now confirmed that 25 people have been taken by ambulance from the scene... complaining of nausea and respiratory problems. And, ambulances are lined up to take more people if needed.

A hazardous-materials spill at National Jewish Hospital in Denver, Colorado happened in one the underground tunnels that run between the east and west side of Colorado Boulevard.

All the buildings of the hospital are connected by these tunnels. And, several of them have been evacuated... including a k-8 school for children with severe asthma. 90 children are among the evacuees.

A hospital Spokesman says during pool maintenance... hydrochloric acid was mixed with bleach... causing irritating fumes to spread through the connected buildings.
