Closing Thoughts on Obama's Troop Withdrawal Plan

Thanks for joining me today on the Happening Now blog.

Here are some closing thoughts on Obama's Troop Withdrawal Plan:

The arc of the war in Iraq has gone from a desperate struggle on the edge of defeat to tremendous progress to the possibility of success. Too much sacrifice has been called for, too many lives have been lost, too much treasure has been spent, and too much is at stake for victory to be squandered by a rapid and unwise withdrawal. To the surprise of many people, Barack Obama was handed a strong, even winning, hand in Iraq. Let's hope he doesn't toss it all away. The consequences would

be enormous, and awful.
