Deep in the McGill University neighborhood, the Word is a small shop bursting with used books— including 1st editions—and specializing in philosophy, poetry, and literature. The award-winning Montréal landmark shuns modern technology (including a cash register) in favor of timeless appeal. There's no sign, so keep your eyes peeled as you walk along Milton, though the bargain books lining the window are a good clue. It doesn't open until 11 on Saturday. www.wordbookstore.ca.
