Fodor's Review:

Golf

Montréal golf enthusiasts have several excellent golf courses available to them, many less than a half-hour drive from downtown. If you're willing to trek a bit farther (about 45 minutes), you'll find some of the best golfing in the province.

Club de Golf Métropolitain Anjou.  A clubhouse featuring a steak-house restaurant, several banquet halls, a bistro, a pro shop with an indoor practice range (winter only), and an outdoor driving range all serve to make this a top-notch facility—not to mention, of course, the par-72, 18-hole championship golf course. The club is only a 20-minute drive from downtown Montréal. Dress code in effect. 9555 boul. du Golf, Anjou, Montréal, QC, H1J 2Y2. PHONE: 514/353-5353. www.golfmetropolitainanjou.com. The Falcon.  A relative newcomer on the Greater Montréal golf scene—inaugurated in 2002—it rapidly became one of the best courses in Québec. Situated just 25 minutes west of downtown in the picturesque and largly Anglophone village of Hudson (which is worth a visit in itself). Recent improvements include a two million dollar clubhouse. Early bird specials profit those who don't mind a 7 am tee off. 59 Cambridge, Hudson, QC, J0P 1H0. PHONE: 450/458-1997. www.falcongolf.ca. Championship golf course: 18-holes. Par 72. 7096 yards. Golf Dorval.  Just 20 minutes from downtown by car, Golf Dorval united two courses into one challenging par-72 golf course. A lighted driving range with 50 stations and two putting greens is also available. For C$90, you can buy two tickets for 18 holes and one cart, any time between opening to 1:30 pm on weekdays. (Just call to reserve at least three days in advance). Arrive after 2 pm and you don't need a reservation. 2000 av. Reverchon, Dorval, QC, H9P 2S7. PHONE: 514/631-4653. www.golfdorval.com. Golf Ste-Rose.  Just a short hop over the bridge to the island of Laval, this course is perhaps the most beautiful in Québec, with lovely views of the Rivière des Mille-Îles, hardwood forests, and myriad number of ponds. The course features four sets of tees to accommodate different skill levels. 1400 boul. Mattawa, Ste-Rose, Laval, QC, H7P 5W7. PHONE: 450/628-6072 or 450/628-3573. www.golfsterose.groupebeaudet.com.
