Blvd. Kukulcán, Km 12.6, Zona Hotelera, Cancún, Quintana Roo, 77500
Following a 35-year success in El Centro, this lagoon-side eatery opened a second outpost in the bustling Zona Hotelera. Catering to tourists with its kitschy Mayan live music show (complete with fire eaters) on Wednesdays and Fridays at 8, the multi-level dining area features a dramatic staircase leading down to an archaeological dig covered by a glass floor. Blending modern and Mayan designs, the restaurant has an outdoor patio with a small stream and illuminated trees. Popular appetizers include the lime soup or Caesar salad prepared tableside. The soft-shell crab tacos and garlic shrimp are frequently seen coming from the kitchen, as is the breaded fish served with tamarind and mango sauce. Although known for their fresh fish, they also offer chicken, steak, and pasta at inflated prices. Dessert lovers will enjoy the butterscotch crepes and Mayan coffee. www.lahabichuela.com.
