We all know how hectic it can be to go through security at the airport, especially with children.

But this footage shows that security guards do more than just tell you to take your shoes off.

The father was in the process of putting on his jacket after going through the airport’s x-ray machine and metal detector, when his toddler, who he sat on the table, starting heading for a painful fall.  Suddenly, an alert security guard is seen on the video making an amazing diving catch and saves the child from harm.

The incident occured on Nov. 23 but the video has just been released.

“I was standing four to five meters away and I realized I had no chance of stopping him fall so I just threw myself along the ground with my arms outstretched. It was an instinctive reaction,” Grzegorz Paczek, the guard who saved the boy, told the Telegraph.

Cezary Orzech, a spokesman for Katowice airport, said it just shows that security guards duties go beyond looking for explosives and telling passengers to throw out water bottles. “But it also shows the airport staff not only check to see if anybody is carrying dangerous items but also care for the wellbeing of the passengers.”

Paczek, who's being called a hero, says it was all in a day's work. “I’m just glad the child wasn’t hurt. He started to cry when I caught him but his mother soon calmed him down.”
