Now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine...
All Joe-king Aside
Vice president Biden is finally addressing that awkward moment at Defense Secretary Ash Carter's swearing in last week...sort of.
Remember, he rubbed the shoulders of Carter's wife, whispering in her ear during the ceremony.
She appeared far less comfortable with the situation than he did.
Well, at the end of a Black History Month event last night, Biden told the crowd this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: I will not be offended if you don't want to, but I'm gonna be in that room if anyone wants to photograph, I would not blame you if you didn't.
(LAUGHTER)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
No word on how many attendees took him up on that offer.
Cut and Run
North Korea's efforts to outrun the Ebola virus continue, with the country banning foreign athletes from its international marathon for fear of spreading the disease.
The tour director who sold hundreds of vacation packages that included the marathon got the news this week.
Despite having zero cases of the virus reported in their country and being thousands of miles from West Africa -- North Korean officials are not taking any chances.
In fact, they closed their borders to tourists in October, and insist any foreign diplomats or aid workers -- regardless of where they come from -- undergo a 21-day quarantine.
On the Button
One person's spelling error -- is another's gain.
The public library in Berkeley, California ordered 250 buttons to promote its reading programs.
But look closely -- the California city is spelled B-E-R-K-E-L-E-Y -- and misspelling a library name, well, it just can't happen.
Fortunately, the buttons will not go to waste.
The Californians shipped them to Berkley, Michigan -- whose spelling -- matches the button.
The Michigan library was grateful for the donation and says this is not the first time, believe it or not, it has reaped the benefits of a faulty California spell-check.
Snow Removal Plan
And finally, a man in Massachusetts has found a lucrative way to dispose of the more than 100 inches of snow mother nature has dumped on his lawn this winter -- mail it to greener pastures.
He started a website -- ShipSnowYo.com.
He's offering six pounds of snow for $89.
He says a little bit melts in transit, but there's still enough left for 10 to 15 snowballs.
He plans to keep selling as long as people keep buying.
Not that we need it here in D.C., but we thought we'd try, so we placed our order this afternoon -- we'll let you know how that goes.
