RASH OF NEW SCARES FUELING CALLS TO BAN TRAVEL FROM EBOLA-AFFECTED NATIONS
JOHN LAYFIELD: Obama was quick to stop flights to Israel not too long ago but not Liberia -- I don't understand this. What if this is the worst thing since AIDS, why not take the preventative measures of stopping these flights? Other African countries have already done it.
GARY B. SMITH: It is inhumane not to treat the people there -- you can't treat them if there is a flight ban. Who is going to fly into the country as an aid worker if you can't fly out. People are going to get out regardless. What are you going to do ban all flights coming into the US? We need to treat the epidemic at its root there in Africa.
TRACY BYRNES: Treat it and contain it. There is no need to be vacationing in West Africa -- there are other places to go.
JONAS FERRIS: We need to track people, maybe we can quarantine people for 21 days before they get on a plane to see if they have symptoms. There is something more advanced we can do that just an all-out ban on flights, which is inhumane and won't work anyway.
CHUCK ROCHA: There is a middle ground. We shouldn't have this disease in the country -- everyone agrees on that. If you want to come to America, you should be able to come here -- the incubation period is the key. Go through a 21 day wait to make sure you don't develop symptoms and after that 21 days of being monitored you can come here -- and the cost will be on that country, not on us.
REPORT: TWITTER CEO REVEALS ISIS THREATS AGAINST HIS STAFF OVER BLOCKED ACCOUNTS
GARY B. SMITH: Don't we want ISIS people out in the open, I want to be able to track their messages. I'm not a fan of big government, but this is the case for government to step in. If there was twitter during WWII and we had known about the concentration camps months/years before they started killing jews we would have been more affective in eradicating the threat.
TRACY BYRNES: Twitter and Facebook they don't have the manpower to protect their people, that's where this becomes a government issue. Why has the government not gotten more of a handle on this? They are recruiting by the second but if it's that simple we should be able to take care of this faster than we are.
JONAS FERRIS: I don't think keeping information off the internet will work, it will just pop up somewhere else. Google removed all the nude celebrity pictures, so they are going to do that b/c its an outrage but they won't stop all terrorist messages. I don't want to put the burden of danger on these companies however I think it is the government's job to go after the terrorists.
JOHN LAYFIELD: When you show an actual death it's over the line. You are showing a crime scene that has no business. This exposes how bad these guys are and it's a recruiting tool.
CHUCK ROCHA: Everyone is already being tracked -- beheadings have no place.
UAW CHAPTER POSTS ONLINE 'SCAB LIST' OF AUTO WORKERS WHO OPTED OUT OF THE UNION
TRACY BYRNES: It's mob tactics or 4th grade playground tactics. These guys are disgusting for doing this- they are hurting their cause even more.
CHUCK ROCHA: It's no different than not paying your taxes. We all drive on the roads, but we want everyone to pay their taxes. These guys are nothing more than freeloaders, they want all the benefits of the unions, they want us to go in and negotiate their contracts but they don't want to pay their dues. That isn't right.
JOHN LAYFIELD: Unions are in desperation mode and this is part of it. This is a privacy concern when they start doing this.
JONAS FERRIS: You need to break thumbs to keep people in line. The scab list is how you keep it working, and keep everyone in line.
GARY B. SMITH: This is disgusting. I understand why they do it, but the question is should they be able? If you don't pay your taxes, no one hangs a banner saying you didn't. These workers will be threatened and harassed. We know why the unions are doing it... it's horrible.
