Truth in Advertising
Negative political ads are everywhere these days but now one PAC has been called out for attacking a Republican candidate for governor in Arizona.
The ad accuses Doug Ducey former CEO of Cold Stone Creamery of using quote -- "dishonest business practices" that caused franchise owners to lose everything.
But these sad folks seen in the ad have never run an ice cream shop.
They are, in fact, actors posing for stock photos.
As the Washington Free Beacon first reported, the two women seen in the ad come up in a search of "sad woman" on Getty Images a photo subscription site.
One gentleman can be found by searching "mature man".
The Democratic Governor's Association provided funding for that ad.
Neither it nor the Restore Arizona's Future PAC have responded to our requests for comment.
A Teachable Moment
D.C. schools are doing a lot of backpedaling after a sixth grade teacher instructed her students to compare George W. Bush and Adolf Hitler.
The class had been studying both the Holocaust and the Iraq War.
Quote -- "Now that we have read about two men...who abused their power in various ways, we will compare and contrast...President George W. Bush and Hitler."
That didn't go over well with some parents. The D.C. schools chancellor tweeted -- quote -- "No DCPS curriculum says to make these comparisons in any way. A deeply apologetic teacher used poor judgment and will apologize to students."
Stop Me if You've Heard this One
And finally, a new reality show on the Fall TV lineup with a familiar concept.
Force people who are not likely to get along to survive on a desert island together.
But this time, the contestants are U.S. senators from opposing parties.
The picture here is Arizona Republican Jeff Flake and New Mexico Democrat Martin Heinrich, apparently trying to start a campfire.
The politicians spent six days on an island surrounded by shark-infested waters and apparently walked away with a valuable lesson about teamwork.
Quote -- "Both of us know just how frustrated people are with Washington right now...So, we decided to do something completely out of the ordinary and frankly a little extreme to show the world and our colleagues...if you want to survive you have to work together."
The program airs on the discovery channel next month.
