Now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine...

Staying Grounded

Vice President Joe Biden has made it clear-- Amtrak trains are his preferred mode of transportation.
That may have something to do with how little he thinks of American airports.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

Vice President Joe Biden: If I blindfolded someone and took them at 2 o'clock in the morning in the airport in Hong Kong and said where do you think you are? They would say this must be America it's a modern airport. If I took you and blindfolded you and took you to LaGuardia Airport in New York you must think I must be in some third world country -- I’m not joking.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio concedes the airport needs some updating.

But he called the Vice President's comment inappropriate and quote-- "not his finest moment."

Friday Follow-Up

Last month-- we told you about President Obama's pick to be ambassador to Norway-- who not only knew very little about that country-- but had never set foot there.

Well-- it seems to be a trend.

Yesterday a revelation from Noah Mamet -- slated to be the new ambassador to Argentina.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.: Mr. Mamet, have you been to Argentina?

Noah Bryson Mamet, Nominee: Senator, I haven't had the opportunity yet to be there. I travel pretty extensively around the world, but I haven't yet had the chance.

And the president's pick for ambassador to Hungary-- previously worked as a producer for the soap opera-- "The Bold and the Beautiful".

She admitted during her hearing-- she could not identify the U.S. interests in the region.

One thing the nominees do have in common:-- they are big donors to the president's campaign.

Big Perk

And finally a perk for really big soccer fans.

And we mean that-- literally.

This summer's World Cup-- will offer overweight people-- larger seats to watch the matches.
12 stadiums in Brazil will host the tournament this summer.  And they all include-- special seating for disabled people.

Under Brazilian law-- that includes anyone who is obese.

Those tickets-- cost less than normal.

And each one comes with a complimentary ticket-- for a companion.

But there's a catch:-- you have to provide a doctor's note-- proving you qualify-- as obese.
