NEIL CAVUTO, HOST: I saw this story and this is the first guy I thought of, because I think you could consider Trump ticked, because Jerry Brown has him no doubt seeing red.
California's Democratic governor is in China as we speak, hat in hand as we speak. The governor wants China to show California the love to invest in his state and help fund some green projects.
Donald Trump has got a real problem with that. The Donald on the phone with me right now.
Mr. Trump, good to have you.
DONALD TRUMP, CHAIRMAN & CEO, TRUMP HOTELS & CASINO RESORTS: Hello, Neil.
CAVUTO: What do you make of this, hat in the hand to the Chinese a little more than a week after the CEO of Apple apologized to the Chinese, even though he did not have to? He did nothing wrong. What do you make of what's going on here?
TRUMP: Well, first of all, I own Apple stock.
And when I saw that he apologized, I realized that he's perhaps not what we're looking for. That was a terrible thing, the way he apologized. And it's no Steve Jobs. He wouldn't be apologizing. So, I was very disappointed to see that. And I'm a little disappointed in what's going on at Apple, too, to be honest with you. But that was a very bad thing.
I think for Jerry to go over and talk about green, part of green -- and I'm a believer -- but part of green are these wind turbines and they're a disaster, they're ruining everything in their path. They're killing thousands and thousands of birds. And most of them are made in China. And they're a very bad form of energy, by the way.
They're very inconsistent. When you need it, the wind isn't blowing. And a lot of the green energy things that I know very well every one of them are not working. And it's wonderful to say and speak green, but you have to have energy that also works.
So we have to be very careful with green energy. You look also in San Francisco, where the Chinese are building the Bay Bridge. It's a total catastrophe. It's costing a fortune. The cost overruns are through the roof and I think Jerry has to be very, very careful, because remember China is not our friend.
CAVUTO: The argument has always been we kind of tiptoe around China because they own all of our debt, and every U.S. CEO worth his or her salt always wants to suck up to them to do business there, which could explain this kooky letter from Apple's CEO to apologize for infractions that the company didn't even make in a country where China just steals their technology, steals their stores and makes them their own.
So, leaving that aside, why do we do this? Why do we feel beholden to China? I think you had told me in a couple of visits ago the Chinese actually need us far more than we need them.
TRUMP: Far more. China wouldn't exist without us.
Frankly, if we ever tax Chinese products coming in, they would virtually go out of business and they would have depressions like you haven't seen depressions before. We have all of the cards. We just don't know it. Our leaders are not smart. Our leaders are being laughed at in China.
I do business with the Chinese. I think it's wonderful. I think they're wonderful people and all of that. But they're very smart. And they think our leaders are very stupid. And of course they're right, because what they're getting away with...
CAVUTO: Well, what do you think that's stupid? What do they question?
TRUMP: Because they can't believe -- first of all, they're manipulating their currency, which it makes it very hard not to do business with them if you're building buildings, if you're doing many, many different things. You're buying so much stuff from China. It's so sad.
And it's all through -- and it's not great product. It's all through a manipulation of their currency. And, frankly, if we would do what we should do, and that's give China a quick and very, very strong rebuke and warning, and look what they're doing, as an example, Neil, in North Korea. They could solve that problem in about one phone call.
CAVUTO: Why aren't they?
TRUMP: But they don't -- because they're taunting us because they think we're not the smartest folks on the planet.
CAVUTO: So, you don't buy what K.T. McFarland, a former State Department official, was telling us, that they're kind of flummoxed with this guy because they might have created this monster, but they can't control this monster?
TRUMP: They're not flummoxed. They love that we're spending time working on this problem so that they're in Afghanistan taking out all of the raw materials, so that they're in Iraq, taking the oil and lots of other places and Libya taking the oil. I mean, it's incredible.
So, you know, it's almost like a diversion tactic. But what is going on with China, they could solve literally that problem -- and I know well -- they could solve that problem with one phone call if they wanted to.
CAVUTO: Interesting, interesting, because it's not being solved now, is it?
TRUMP: It's not being solved and it's a disgrace.
And, you know, look, North Korea can't survive without China. They get them their food. They get them everything. They get them weapons. They get them everything.
CAVUTO: That's right. That's right.
TRUMP: So, it's like pretty obvious to anybody with a brain.
CAVUTO: All right. Donald Trump, continued success, not that you need it. But be well.
TRUMP: Thank you very much, Neil. You take care of yourself.
