BILL O'REILLY, FOX NEWS HOST: Dick Morris closely following the Democratic convention. He's the author of the big best seller "Screwed". And he joins us now.

So were you -- first of all -- that was embarrassing, right?

DICK MORRIS, FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR: Yes. I think he needs a hearing aid.

O'REILLY: No but he was going to do it no matter what. He's just -- it was -- it was close.

MORRIS: What should have happened -- was somebody should have had the chutzpah to demand a "roll call."

O'REILLY: Well, then that would take forever though.

MORRIS: I know. Yes.

O'REILLY: You know all those people and -- but I think that the Democratic leadership -- and Villaraigosa is part of that -- they said look, we've got to get out of this. And the word is and some of our reporters have mentioned it to me that Barack Obama himself said --

MORRIS: Yes.

O'REILLY: -- you better get God and Jerusalem back into that platform.

MORRIS: But there is something very serious that has been omitted by the media covering this. There were three changes they made to the platform. One was God but three Israel changes Jerusalem, which they put back in and then this language was deleted and not put back in. The United States and its quartet partners the five major powers should continue to isolate Hamas until it renounces terrorism, recognizes Israel's right to exist, and abides by past agreements.

And the other provision that was taken out but not put back in is the creation of a Palestinian state together with an international compensation mechanism should resolve the issue of Palestinian refugees by allowing them to settle there, rather than in Israel.

The right of return is the key demand of the Palestinians that the Israelis don't want. They don't want a million flooding in.

O'REILLY: I don't know why they wouldn't put the Hamas thing back.

MORRIS: And the designation of Hamas -- well, because, Hillary just wrote a $1 billion check to Hamas in foreign aid. And --

(CROSSTALK)

O'REILLY: To try to buy -- to try to buy them to back off. You know how the game is played. They do in fact -- they try to buy -- they're trying to buy the Egyptians now.

MORRIS: So -- so they claim.

O'REILLY: They're trying to buy the Egyptians.

MORRIS: But the -- yes I know the billion in forgiveness to Egypt.

O'REILLY: Right.

MORRIS: But the point is, that it is to me very significant that the President went so far as to say I want Jerusalem back in but not I want Hamas back in.

O'REILLY: Well does he not need the Jewish vote in Florida? Isn't that what this is all about?

MORRIS: I think he is so -- I believe he thinks Jews don't care about Israel. And I think he is he so mesmerized by his own bias toward the Palestinians that I just think he can't help himself.

O'REILLY: But wait a minute. You just said he had -- he put Jerusalem back.

MORRIS: He did. But he didn't put Hamas back in. No right of return.

O'REILLY: Ok nobody cares about Hamas. Come on Morris nobody cares about Hamas.

MORRIS: Hey come on Hamas is leading terrorist organization in the Middle East.

O'REILLY: You and seven other guys that do this for a living and don't sleep care. But Jerusalem and God are big. And Barack Obama -- and I believe this, I believe that he --

MORRIS: Yes.

O'REILLY: -- called these guys up and said you better stop this right now and that's why. I've got to -- I've got to got to take a break because we're working on some speeches. We're going to hold Morris over.
