Mixed Reviews for Obama's Emergency Response

Now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine:

Job Well Done?

President Obama is being praised by Alabama officials for the federal government's quick response to the deadly tornadoes.

But Texas Republican Governor Rick Perry is blasting the administration claiming his state is getting the cold shoulder as it battles wildfires that have scorched nearly two million acres -- quote -- "You have to ask, 'Why are you taking care of Alabama and other states?' I know our letter didn't get lost in the mail."

A FEMA spokeswoman says Perry's request for a state of emergency declaration is currently under review.

Prospective presidential candidate Donald Trump did not mince four-letter words Thursday when he spoke at an event sponsored by a local Republican chapter and three women's groups in Las Vegas.

Here are a few of the highlights from the 30-minute speech in which he blasted President Obama and slammed politicians as blood suckers.

DONALD TRUMP: In the meantime we can't get a [expletive] school built in Brooklyn... we have nobody in Washington that sits back and said you're not gonna raise that [expletive] price you understand me?... listen you [expletive] we're gonna tax you 25 percent.

Citizen of the World

And finally, the Man of Steel is going global.

In the 900th issue of Action Comics, Superman says -- quote -- "I intend to speak before the United Nations tomorrow and inform them that I am renouncing my U.S. citizenship. I'm tired of having my actions construed as instruments of U.S. policy. Truth, justice and the American way, it's not enough anymore."

Superman's creators defend the decision, saying the Man of Steel has always embraced American values. But one GOP activist says quote -- "Besides being riddled with a blatant lack of patriotism... Superman's current creators are belittling the United States as a whole."

Grapevine would like to point out for the record that Superman is not a real person.
