SEAN HANNITY, "HANNITY" HOST: Denise Richards stars in the hit reality TV show, "Denise Richards: It's Complicated." Now on the show, cameras follow Denise through her personal and professional life, and when the two things mix, well, it can get a little bit awkward. Take a look.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Scene four, take one.

DENISE RICHARDS, ACTRESS: Order now and, for a special treat, when you get my sugary sweet fun bags, I'm going to include my honkers and my signature hoo-hah.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: That was great. Let's do that one more time. Action.

RICHARDS: Dad, you can't be laughing while I'm doing this. I mean, get out of my (UNINTELLIGIBLE), please.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HANNITY: Season two of "It's Complicated" returned this month. And Denise Richards joins me now.How are you? Good to see you.

RICHARDS: I'm good. Thank you.

HANNITY: I watch you from a distance. And I read about — I read about your life, I read about your divorce, I read about your kids, I read about Heather Locklear, I read about Richie Sambora. I mean, do you like being in the public eye that much? And now, you know, with the reality show, and I've seen the show...

RICHARDS: Right.

HANNITY: You've got to love that, or else you wouldn't do it.

RICHARDS: Well, I don't like a lot of the negative stuff. And a lot of that, I don't have — I'm not the one writing the stories.

Obviously, I went through a very public divorce, which you know, everyone heard about. And there was a lot of things going on with that. And the other things that you mentioned, as well. And to be honest with you, Ryan Seacrest approached me to do the TV show.

HANNITY: And I like him. Ryan is a great host, is on "American Idol." He hosts a radio show out of Los Angeles. Very talented guy.

RICHARDS: Talented guy. He's very talented. He's a great producer.

HANNITY: Right.

RICHARDS: So I wanted to do a show. And I wasn't trying to change perception or, you know, anything like that. I just wanted to give a sense of who I am. It's meant for entertainment, but at least people can see I have a very close relationship with my dad, and I deal with real issues. And...

HANNITY: Right. This new reality show, "Kate and Somebody Plus Eight," whatever this show is. "Jon & Kate Plus Eight"? All right. And...

RICHARDS: I can tell you're a fan.

HANNITY: I'm so — I am really a pop culture wizard, just so you know. Just trust me on it. You can ask me anything about politics. I'll hit you with the answer.

But there's a big controversy about — and you went through this, because your husband at one point was mad that you were using the kids in the show. And in their case, they're saying, you know, is it — are they abusing these children...

RICHARDS: Right.

HANNITY: ... and things like that? How carefully do you scrutinize what's said about your kids?

RICHARDS: Well, this season, Charlie was agreeable to the girls being on the show. And anyone that saw the first season saw that the girls were hardly even on it. We just captured nice, cute mom moments for the girls, whether it's out playing or having lunch, and me driving them to school. And any time that they don't want to be filmed, they walk away. If they want to, then they want to.

HANNITY: And you have the ability to cut out whatever you want cut out?

RICHARDS: Absolutely. I have full control of that. And there's always a child advocate. They're on very little. I mean, one episode, not even 30 seconds. So...

HANNITY: It was one good thing I read, that in spite of all the — you know, the acrimony that existed...

RICHARDS: First of all, please don't read — believe everything you read. A lot of stuff wasn't true. I will fess up to the stuff that is.

HANNITY: Yes.

RICHARDS: A lot of it's not true, either.

HANNITY: Well, don't believe everything you read about me. Liberals don't like me.

RICHARDS: That's a deal.

HANNITY: Yes, but it's more on the political side.

But apparently, you had a dinner with Charlie, even though he's remarried, and apparently, things went pretty well. And you're at least getting along better.

RICHARDS: Yes. Things have been going well, really well for awhile now with Charlie. We've worked really hard. Anyone that's gone through a divorce, it's very painful and devastating. And ours was so public and so nasty.

HANNITY: Yes.

RICHARDS: And I'm grateful that we're at a place where it can be very nice for the girls.

HANNITY: I think that part is tough about celebrity. And I think probably everywhere you go, every bite of food you take, every time you're out with your friends, I mean, you know — by the way, they don't follow talk-show hosts. Thank God. The paparazzi.

RICHARDS: They might start.

HANNITY: No, I don't think so. Who knows? But I would think that's a hard life, I mean, to be chased down. Literally, you wake up in the morning and, you know, you've got to comb your hair to go outside your house to get a cup of coffee.

RICHARDS: You know, it's — I can't complain. I have a blessed life. I get to make a living off something I'm very passionate about. And there's, I think, a downside to every business. And you know, it is what it is. So I can't — speak for me about the paparazzi.

HANNITY: What's the story with you and Heather Locklear?

RICHARDS: No story.

HANNITY: There's no story? Are you friends, still?

RICHARDS: No, no, no.

HANNITY: You guys, your friendship ended.

RICHARDS: OK. I guess since you've never interviewed me, yes. No, our friendship, I met her through Charlie. And my friendship with her ended. We're different.

HANNITY: Right.

RICHARDS: And — and then when Richie and I got together...

HANNITY: Richie Sambora.

RICHARDS: Yes. Her soon-to-be ex-husband, she had filed for divorce.

HANNITY: Right.

RICHARDS: He was single...

HANNITY: Yes.

RICHARDS: ... technically. I was technically single, because I was going through my divorce. And we got together. So I did not break up a marriage. He did not break up mine. And I did not steal a friend's husband.

HANNITY: All right.

RICHARDS: So that's that.

HANNITY: That's good. That's the abbreviated, "Cliff Note" version.

RICHARDS: That's it in a nutshell.

HANNITY: Well, look, good luck. Congratulations. It's great to have...

RICHARDS: Thank you.

HANNITY: I enjoyed you in the movies. I don't get as much time for the reality show. But this show has gotten a lot of publicity. So congratulations.

RICHARDS: Thank you.

HANNITY: Very nice to meet you. Thank you. Appreciate it.

RICHARDS: Nice meeting you, too. Thank you very much.

HANNITY: And that is all the time we have left this evening.
