Exclusive: Former Friend of Suspected 'Craigslist Killer' Goes 'On the Record'

GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, FOX NEWS HOST: This would terrify anyone. She says she saw the dark side of the accused Craigslist killer and survived a possible attack. She's here to go "on the Record," Morgan Houston, a college friend of medical student Philip Markoff. She joins us live. Welcome, Morgan.

MORGAN HOUSTON, COLLEGE FRIEND OF PHILIP MARKOFF: Hi.

VAN SUSTEREN: Morgan, what happened?

HOUSTON: Yes. It was my sophomore year of college in the winter. And we had been out one night with a group of friends, and we came home and got out of the cab, and he was walking me to my building. And in the doorway of the dormitory, he just all of a sudden grabbed me and pushed me up against the wall and was trying to kiss me.

And I kept turning my head aside and pushing him away, and I couldn't push him of me and saying, No, Phil, what are you doing? We're just friends. We've always just been friends. And thankfully, shortly after, one of our mutual friends came along and pulled him off of me. So that was...

VAN SUSTEREN: What did he say?

HOUSTON: He didn't really say anything. He just kept trying to force himself on me.

VAN SUSTEREN: Had he been drinking or doing any drugs at the time?

HOUSTON: He'd been drinking. I've never known him to do drugs.

VAN SUSTEREN: When he drank, was there -- I mean, some people who drink get rather violent. Was he -- or this a complete one of a -- one of a -- you've never seen this happen before with him?

HOUSTON: This was my first experience with this side of him.

VAN SUSTEREN: People talk an awful lot in college and gossip and know things about people. Did you ever hear anything else about him?

HOUSTON: Did I ever what?

VAN SUSTEREN: Hear anything else about him? Did any other women have any trouble with him?

HOUSTON: I never heard of any other woman having trouble with him, but I know of other incidents with people that knew him.

VAN SUSTEREN: Like what?

HOUSTON: Just him getting violent.

VAN SUSTEREN: In what way?

HOUSTON: It's not my story to tell. It's not my story to tell that. It's all rumor.

VAN SUSTEREN: All right, without naming the person, though, you know, what were you -- what were you hearing about him? We're trying to piece together what kind of young man he is. What were you hearing?

HOUSTON: Well, for the most part, he was very nice and we all liked him. We were friends with him. We hung out with him and he was generally well liked. But there were some people that thought that he was weird and didn't particularly like him too much.

VAN SUSTEREN: Weird in what way? I mean, like, here you've got a handsome young man who's successful in school and about to go to medical school. How could people -- I mean, why wouldn't somebody like him? I mean, he must have been -- there must have been something quite peculiar.

HOUSTON: They got strange vibes from him. They just felt put off by him, weren't really comfortable with him as a person.

VAN SUSTEREN: Men and women college students, or just the women?

HOUSTON: Men and women.

VAN SUSTEREN: All right. Did he ever -- ever known to have a gun or try to rob anybody, anything like that?

HOUSTON: No, I'd never heard of that. I'd never hear him talk about him going hunting or shooting ranges or anything. I was completely shocked to hear all of this. I wouldn't have suspected any of it.

VAN SUSTEREN: How did you hear about this?

HOUSTON: I got a phone call from a friend, and then also on FaceBook, I received another message from a friend, telling me, Oh, my God, did you hear about Phil, and to go downstairs and turn on the news. And it was shocking. I was shaking. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

VAN SUSTEREN: Would you say that he was a fellow that wasn't particularly well liked?

HOUSTON: I'm sorry, say that...

VAN SUSTEREN: Would you say that he wasn't well liked?

HOUSTON: It was just only a few people that didn't really like him.

VAN SUSTEREN: Morgan, thank you very much.
