For eight years, the brutal murder of Washington intern Chandra Levy remained a mystery shrouded by scandal.

In May of 2001, the 24-year-old disappeared while jogging. Her skull and bones found in a D.C. park a year later. During the investigation, Congressman Gary Condit of California was identified as having an affair with Ms. Levy, and that caused a huge scandal, as you may remember.

But now the crime may be solved. According to The Washington Post, authorities believe 27-year-old Salvadoran illegal alien Ingmar Guandique murdered Chandra Levy. He allegedly confessed the crime to another inmate while awaiting trial. He was convicted of assaulting two other women in D.C.

Now, there are a number of things in play here. A few days after allegedly killing Chandra, Guandique was arrested and charged with burglary in Washington, but a hearing commissioner named Hugh Stevenson released him. ICE was not called. That is typical of sanctuary cities.

The illegal alien then went on to assault at least two other women shortly after he was set free by Stevenson.

The Washington Post did a good job of reporting this story but The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Associated Press and the network news programs all neglected to report that Guandique is an illegal alien. "Talking Points" believes that was done on purpose.

You may remember that a few weeks ago The New York Times editorial page implied that I am a racist for reporting the truth about illegal alien crimes. This is another example of blatant press dishonesty in America. The media's cover-up of alien crime is massive.

A new study coming to light through the federal 287(g) program says that in the Phoenix area, 22 percent of all felonies are committed by illegal aliens. In the Chicago area, 19 percent of all prison inmates are illegal. In Collier County, Florida, more than 20 percent of all arrests are for crimes allegedly committed by illegals, and on and on.

In fact, according to federal data, about a half million serious crimes have been committed by illegal aliens over the past 10 years.

Both political parties are at fault, as is the pro-amnesty media. Republicans wanted business to have cheap labor. Democrats sought the votes that come with migrant residency. And the far-left press believes the USA is oppressive and cruel if it does not grant citizenship to poor migrants.

Add all that up and you have a perfect storm of immigration chaos. And thousands of Americans have been badly hurt by it, not to mention thousands of illegal aliens themselves, who have been brutalized and exploited.

A fair, humane immigration policy that includes a controlled border and a disciplined approach to gaining citizenship is possible. But at this point, America is not even close to having that policy.

And that's "The Memo."

Pinheads & Patriots

As mentioned, the Oscar telecast Sunday night was kind of tedious, but we did like this:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

NATALIE PORTMAN, ACTRESS: What's going on with you?

BEN STILLER, ACTOR: Nothing. I just want to retire from being a funny guy. That's all.

PORTMAN: You look like you work at a Hasidic meth lab. What do you want to do? What do you want to do?

STILLER: I don't know. Maybe cinematography.

He was mocking Joaquin Phoenix. For displaying a sense of humor, Ben Stiller is a patriot.

On the pinhead front, last week in Houston 25-year-old Danny Joe Flores decided to take off when police responded to a domestic violence call.

Flores led police on a wild chase, speeding down a Houston highway and ramming a police car from behind causing it to flip over. Later in the chase he rammed a police SUV, causing his car to spin out of control, and police finally caught him.

Flores, of course, is a pinhead and is charged with two counts of aggravated assault. The problem is these guys often get light sentences after putting lives in danger. That has got to stop, and we trust the system in Texas will punish Flores appropriately.
