Tonight the news from across Hannity's America...

Obama's Flip-Flop

The election is over but old Obama flip-flops are still emerging. You may recall that the president-elect staunchly opposed gay marriage during the campaign:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BARACK OBAMA, PRESIDENT-ELECT: I am not somebody who promotes same-sex marriage, but I do believe in civil unions.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

The Windy City Times, Chicago's oldest gay and lesbian newspaper, has just uncovered a questionnaire he filled out for the paper in 1996 in which he said, "I favor legalizing same-sex marriages and would fight efforts to prohibit such marriages."

I wonder, is this what Obama supporters meant by change we can believe in?

Carter and the Commies

Tonight's Great Moment in Liberal Foreign Policy is brought to you by the peanut-farming President Jimmy Carter, renowned in some circles as a champion of human rights.

He went to China this week, apparently to ingratiate himself with the communists in command. According to the AP, Carter praised the "glorious changes that have taken place" there.

Conspicuously absent from his remarks however, was any mention of the government's gross human rights abuses. The National Review's Jay Nordlinger notes that Carter is mighty picky about whose human rights he champions.

If Chinese political prisoners are waiting on him, they'll be waiting a long, long time. For now, he's focusing on the great human rights issue of our time: you know, all those abuses taking place on American soil.

DOJ Sues BPP

Tonight we also bring you news about the actual suppression of rights in the U.S.

The Department of Justice is charging the billy club-wielding Black Panthers with voter intimidation on Election Day, citing the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Black Panther Party chairman Malik Zulu Shabazz confirmed that their presence in Philadelphia was part of a larger effort to deploy members to voting stations nationwide.

No word on whether brandishing a weapon was required or just optional.

Guarding Geithner

Required for Timothy Geithner is a Senate confirmation, and as you probably know, things haven't exactly gone swimmingly for the treasury secretary nominee these past few days. Here's what Senator Harry Reid, or Prince Harry as I call him, had to say in Mr. Geithner's defense, and what I think he really meant:

(BEGIN TAPE)

HARRY REID, SENATE MAJORITY LEADER: Timothy Geithner is a person that is extremely well-qualified to be one of the finest secretaries of treasury this country has ever had.

(PAUSE TAPE)

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: You don't need to understand tax laws in order to head up the IRS... just look at me! I don't pay any attention to the Constitution, and I'm the Senate's top dog!

(RESUME TAPE)

REID: And there's a few little hiccups, but that's basically what they are.

(PAUSE TAPE)

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: Forgetting to pay tens of thousands of dollars in federal taxes is an honest mistake… it could happen to anyone. Oh yeah… and that illegal immigrant housekeeper thing. That too.

(RESUME TAPE)

REID: I am not concerned at all.

(PAUSE TAPE)

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: Next to the scandals plaguing some of Obama's other nominees, this guy's troubles are mild in comparison. Geithner's probably the least dishonest one so far!

(END TAPE)

So for all of you out there overburdened by the IRS, remember this: the Senate majority leader will consider your failure to pay Uncle Sam his due just a hiccup!

A New Kind of Sex Ed

And in other liberal legal news, a Washington state court gives its blessing to sex between teachers and students, just so long as those students are 18 years of age.

A choir teacher protested the statute in question on the grounds that the name of the statute is sexual misconduct with a minor, and 18-year-olds are not minors.

Laws against such conduct haven't exactly stopped deviant teachers from using their positions to take advantage before, but we'll be watching to see just how quickly applications to teach high school seniors rise out West now that the court has rubber-stamped the behavior.

Slick Move, Browner

An addendum to last night's report on Obama climate czar and former Socialist International member Carol Browner.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Browner's lobbyist husband worked on behalf of Exxon Mobil, Chevron and KeySpan Energy! In 2006, Browner even collaborated with her husband when he lobbied for Dubai Ports World as it attempted to acquire a company that operates six major U.S. ports.

I seem to remember Mr. Obama accusing President Bush of being in the pocket of big oil. What's that saying about people living in environmentally friendly, solar paneled homes not lobbying for oil companies?
