Now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine:

A Source of Trouble?

Both Barack Obama and John McCain have received donations from outside the United States, and while the campaigns have been slow in detailing the sources of those donations, Obama has more undocumented money so far.

The Washington Times reports Federal Election Commission records show Obama took $4.6 million from donors listing non-U.S. residences. His campaign failed to provide information for 11 percent of that money — about a half of a million dollars.

Meanwhile, McCain has just over a half of a million dollars in all from supporters listing non-U.S. residences, and failed to provide disclosures for just a third of that.

Off Color

The editor-in-chief of a Philadelphia news blog says white people should not be allowed to vote.

Jonathan Valania of Phawker.com writes in the Philadelphia Inquirer, "As a lifelong Caucasian, I am beginning to think the time has finally come to take the right to vote away from white people... I just don't think we can be trusted to exercise it responsibly anymore."

Valania gives three reasons. He says "Exhibit A" is, "In 2000, Bush-Cheney stole the election, got us attacked, and then got us into two no-exit wars. Four years later, white people reelected them."

He says,"Exhibit B is any given Sarah Palin rally," and, "Exhibit C would be Ed Rendell and John Murtha... pointing out that there are plenty of people in Pennsylvania who just cannot bring themselves to pull the lever for a black man."

Bad Taste?

A Halloween display in liberal West Hollywood, California, is rubbing some residents the wrong way. A local TV station reports neighbors are not happy with Chad Michael Morrisette, whose home features a mannequin hanging from a noose. The dummy is dressed as governor Palin with glasses, a beehive wig and a red business suit.

One neighbor says, "When you're using a vice presidential candidate with a noose around her neck, that to me has gone too far... it's just wrong."

One tourist called the display cruel, but Morisette defends his exhibit, saying his subjects are fair game during Halloween season.

But he admits, "If we had done it with Barack Obama, people would've probably thrown things through our windows. The image of a hanged black man is a lot more intense than the image of a hanged white woman."

NFL Draft

A report from the NFL Network says the San Francisco 49ers would consider hiring Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as team president.

An unnamed official says, "If she's interested in talking to us, I'm interested in talking to her."

It is believed Rice could aide the team's pursuit of financing for a new stadium. The secretary has long professed her fondness for football and at one point remarked she would like to be league commissioner.

The report says she told friends recently that she would love to be president of an NFL team and is planning to return to California in January.

Team spokesman Aaron Salkin tried to discourage the talk saying, "We don't respond to rumors. We have our office structure in place."
