'Tis the season. And 'tis been that way for weeks now. In some stores, months now.
Christmas decorations everywhere. That bugs a lot of people.
I got to tell you... it doesn't bug me.
Not one bit. I love it. Every bit of it.
Every tacky Santa. Every over-the-top display.
Every garish light. Every blinking Rudolph.
I love them. All of them.
Now I know some say it takes away the spirit of the season long before we even have a season. But that assumes we don't know the meaning of the season.
We do. I do.
And for me, at least, it's a pretty great season. People are nicer.
They honk less. Hug more.
They're rushed, but they're jazzed.
They're overwhelmed. But a lot of them are overjoyed too.
If you really want to know the truth, I just wish we could keep it going all year long.
But we can't. We don't.
I'm smart enough to know retailers aren't selling the decency of the season. They just want to make a buck off the season.
I say let them. We could do worse than be reminded a little early about a time that seems to bond us.
Even if it offends some of us.
