Now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine:

Target: Condoleezza Rice

With the U.S. backing Israel in its current offensive, anti-American sentiment is running high in the Palestinian territories. And much of it is directed at Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Articles in Palestinian newspapers have called Rice, a "black spinster." One political cartoon pictured her pregnant with a monkey. A Palestinian newspaper editor tells the Jerusalem Post many of his people single out Rice "because they think that all black people should be on their side."

Terrorists' Delicate Sensibilities?

The European Union is refusing to add Hezbollah to its list of terrorist organizations for fear of upsetting the group prior to a peace agreement.

The EU president rejected a letter signed by 213 members of Congress demanding Hezbollah be put on the terror list, saying, "Given the sensitive situation where we are, I don't think this is something we will be acting on now."

Lieberman vs. Lamont

And Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman is now trailing liberal challenger Ned Lamont by double digits in advance of next Tuesday's Democratic primary, winning the support of just 41 percent of voters in a new Quinnipiac poll.

Meanwhile, both Lieberman and Lamont have condemned a doctored photo of Bill Clinton hugging a blackface Lieberman, posted by a liberal blogger with extensive ties to the Lamont campaign. Jane Hamsher is apologizing to anyone who was "genuinely offended" by the image, but says Lieberman started the "race-baiting" with a flyer accusing Lamont of belonging to a mostly-white country club.
