Is it me, or are we all living a 70s flashback? It's like everything old is new again. It's “That 70's Show,” but it's not a show.
It started innocently enough, women wearing those loud 70s fashions as if they were Goldie Hawn stepping out of "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In" -- that's a pop culture reference that will wiz by any of you younger than 40!
I mean, take this whole Mars rover thing. It's very impressive and all, but didn't we already do this in 1976 with the Viking?
And now we want to bring a man to the Moon? If that's a vision, look back in the history books for the pictures -- they're more than 30 years old!
Now even Gillette is adding to the consumer suspense with a new razor that vibrates. I remember when all those portable razors were the rage in the early 70s.
Even Hollywood's idea of being original is to unleash yet another sequel.
Certainly we can dream bigger than this.
Land on an asteroid. Start wearing clothing that doesn't look like we're re-living "Sonny and Cher."
Maybe invent a razor that uses tiny rays to flick away whiskers.
Do you know what I'm saying? Don't forget the past. Keep the good stuff -- like those damn cookies I can't find – but move past the bad stuff.
I think we need bigger dreams, bigger goals and bigger ideas.
Now, don't get me wrong. Mars is incredible. And what the rover's doing up there is incredible. But I think we can do things that are even more incredible.
It's time to think outside the box. And quit thinking progress is looking like we all stepped out of Woodstock. That was then. Would it kill us to think of something different now?.
