NEIL CAVUTO, HOST: Well, the president urging Arab leaders to commit themselves to ending violence in Israel as the keystone to making peace with Israel. Easier said than done? Let’s ask former Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Natan Sharansky.

Mr. Sharansky, of course, President Bush expects, as you know, Arab leaders to put pressure on the Palestinian Authority to cool it on terror. Do you think they’re going to listen?

NATAN SHARANSKY, FORMER ISRAELI DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER: Well, of course, we all have our hopes, and we just now got the report about some signs of optimism.

But let me also add the other side. The success of the peace process depends, first of all, if Palestinian Authority will struggle against terror.

What Mahmoud Abbas is doing now, negotiating the cease-fire -- repeat the cease-fire -- with the terrorist organizations and with some martyrs, instead of struggle against this, the terrorist organizations, to destroy the infrastructure of terror.

The second, inside ones, extremely important scene, what Palestinian Authority wants to prepare the people to live in peace with us, or the war. Just today when Israel is doing all these gestures, including release of the terrorists from prisons, Egyptian TV resumed the broadcasting of the most vicious anti-Semitic serial about the Protocols of the Elders of Zion...

CAVUTO: Let me ask you about that, Mr. Sharansky.

Hosni Mubarak today said something interesting in his remarks. He said, "We will ensure that our assistance to the Palestinians goes solely to the Palestinian Authority. We will continue to support efforts to improve the quality of life for the Palestinian people."

Are you convinced that this will only be peaceful support?

SHARANSKY: Look, first of all, it’s very important if this will be done because that by itself is quite a change. Unfortunately, the funds were mainly used to finance terrorist activity, so it’s very important if it will be done.

At the same time, Egyptian authorities, Mubarak -- is he preparing Arab girls to live in peace with us or not? If today the -- controlled by the state -- TV of Egypt resumes broadcasting of the most vicious in the history anti-Semitic broadcastings that tells us something about their intention. And we are very concerned about it.
