Kenya's truth report: Killings, land grabs, graft

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has received a long-awaited Truth Justice and Reconciliation Commission report whose findings show that his father, the country's first president, presided over a government responsible for numerous human rights violations, including political assassinations and illegal allocation of land.The report released late Tuesday also finds that two former presidents, Daniel Arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki, who succeeded the late Jomo Kenyatta, presided over governments responsible for massacres, economic crimes and large-scale corruption, among other violations.Kenya's truth commission was formed as part of a reform process aimed at preventing a repeat of the 2007-08 post-election violence in which more than 1,000 people were killed.A 2008 government commission found historical injustices such as unequal land distribution were partly responsible for the violence....
