Lincoln Davenport Chafee (; born March 26, 1953) is an American politician who has been the 74th Governor of Rhode Island since January 2011. Prior to his election as governor, Chafee served in the United States Senate as a Republican from 1999 until losing his Senate re-election bid in 2006 to Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse.

Lincoln Chafee and federal prosecutors was turned over to federal authorities on Wednesday, but the battle over who gets to prosecute him on fatal robbery charges isn't over.A lawyer for Jason W. Pleau, 34, entered a not guilty plea for him in U.S. District Court in Providence on charges he used a firearm during a crime of violence, robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. The arraignment was scheduled after the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston issued a written order on Tuesday clearing the way for his prosecution in federal court.Robert B.
