Gloria Marie Steinem (born March 25, 1934) is an American feminist, journalist, and social and political activist who became nationally recognized as a leader of, and media spokeswoman for, the women's liberation movement in the late 1960s and 1970s.

Demi Moore to Play Gloria Steinem in Upcoming Linda Lovelace Biopic, Report Says

Demi Moore will be taking on the role of ‘70s feminist icon Gloria Steinem in the upcoming biopic “Lovelace,” based on porn star Linda Lovelace , according to new reports.

Steinem, who founded Ms. magazine in 1971, was a prominent critic of pornography. In 1980, Steinem wrote a profile on Lovelace for the magazine, “The Real Linda Lovelace,” where she detailed the violent and abusive relationship between Lovelace and her husband, “Deep Throat” producer Charles E. Traynor.In the profile, Steinem wrote that "the myth that Lovelace loved to be sexually used and humiliated was created by her husband" and that, among other things, Traynor held Lovelace captive, forced her into prostitution and threatened her at gunpoint.According to the Hollywood Reporter, Peter Sarsgaard has been tapped to play Traynor, while Amanda Seyfried will portray Lovelace.
